ANNE LEATHERLAND BSc PGCE LGSM(TD) ALCM

Anne is a
successful teacher and singer based in Burton on
Trent in the East Midlands. Originally from Manchester, Anne grew
up in
a musical family
and performed for many years as a folk singer on a semi-professional
basis. She was educated in Manchester
where she studied choral
music and played violin and guitar.
Anne opted
for a science degree graduating in Chemistry
(Hons.) at Lancaster and followed this with a PGCE. Following her
degree
she spent a year leading music for
liturgy, assisting Damian Lundy FSC with the compilation Songs of
The Spirit
3 and
performing several songs for
the companion recording to the
book. Two
of her own compositions were published in the volume.
Whilst
teaching locally she produced
musicals with young
people and this rekindled her interest in music study. She began
vocal
studies with Coral Gould (a founder member
of AOTOS) in Burton on Trent and gained diplomas in Classical Singing
Performance (ALCM) and Singing Teaching (LGSM).
Anne
has now been teaching Singing for over ten years and
has successfully trained both amateur and professional singers.
As well
as
private lessons and consultations
her work has included courses and workshops given both locally and
further
afield.
Anne has a variety of fellow professionals that
she
can call on to assist with her work.
As a
singer (Mezzo Soprano) Anne has performed in numerous
concerts and recitals and continues to do so when time allows. She has
also
performed in and directed music theatre productions and has assisted
with
musical direction on a number of occasions.
Over
the years Anne has undertaken extensive professional
development and she continues to update her skills on a regular basis.
Current
interests include cross genre training, vocal troubleshooting and the
in depth
study of vocal function.
Anne is a member of AOTOS and the ISM.
